Triage Update:

Posted on:

We are busy preparing for triage in the surgery and thought we would share an update

The appointment ledgers have all been re-designed so that we have routine pre bookable GP appointments which are released on a staggered basis up to 4 weeks ahead.

From Monday 1st September 2025, the partial triage system will start. This means if you contact us with a medical need that you feel could be urgent, you will be directed to our online consultation system. Don’t worry if you don’t use a PC / Laptop /tablet or smartphone though – if you choose to contact us by telephone or at the reception desk then one of our care navigator receptionists will complete the request for you.

We know that some patients are concerned about confidentiality at the desk and don’t want to discuss their medical issue where other patients may be able to hear. In these instances, we will advise that you use either the telephone or online method and we will have a receptionist on hand to help you with this whilst the new system becomes more familiar. It is important for the system to work that we take all the information we need when you contact us about a medical problem. This is because the information needs to be consistent regardless of the way you choose to contact us.

We are working with our Patient Participation Group on the changes to the appointment system and will monitor and evaluate the system as we go. Like with all new systems, there are likely to be some initial issues and we will work to address these as they arise. The GP appointments that are available on Saturdays are not currently part of the appointment system changes as they are covered by our extended access contract and are pre-bookable.

We want to thank you all for the support you have shown with the changes to the appointment system so far

Thanks,
