GP Letters – Personal Independence Payments (PIP) Support

Posted on:

Dear Patients,

Our practice recognises the importance of supporting patients with their health needs. When applying for Personal Independence Payment (PIP), the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) and its assessment provider (e.g. Capita) are responsible for requesting medical evidence directly from us, for which they provide payment.

We will continue to respond to these official requests. However, we will not provide additional letters for PIP appeals outside of this process, as these are not part of NHS-funded care and are not reimbursed. Patients may choose to obtain supporting information from their own medical records, which we can provide through a Subject Access Request (free of charge) or by requesting copies of relevant documents (e.g. clinic letters, test results).

This ensures fair use of NHS resources and maintains equity of service for all patients.

Yours sincerely,

Trentside Medical Group
