What are Online Services?

Online services let you access parts of your GP record, request prescriptions, and manage your appointments using the internet, safely and securely.

  • You can use the NHS App or other approved systems (such as SystmOnline) to:
  • ✅ Book, view, or cancel GP appointments
  • ✅ Request repeat prescriptions
  • ✅ View your medical record (including test results and coded information)
  • ✅ See your vaccination history and allergies
  • ✅ Update contact details
  • ✅ Send secure non-urgent messages to the practice (where available)

Benefits of Using Online Services

  • 24-hour access – no need to phone or visit the surgery
  • You can see when medication has been issued
  • Less waiting on the phone
  • Better access to your own health information
  • Safe and secure – protected by NHS-approved systems

Who Can Use Online Services?

  • All patients aged 16 or over can register.
  • Parents or guardians can request proxy access for children under 16 (subject to clinical approval).
  • Carers or representatives can be granted access on behalf of a patient who cannot manage their own health record (with consent or legal authority).

How to Register

You can register for online services in two easy ways:

 Option 1: NHS App (recommended)

  1. Download the NHS App on your smartphone or tablet.
  2. Follow the instructions to verify your identity (using your photo ID and a short video).
  3. Link to Trentside Medical Group automatically.

Once verified, you’ll have instant access to your online health record, repeat prescriptions, and appointments.

Option 2: Register at the Surgery

If you prefer, you can register in person.
Please bring:

  • Photo ID (e.g., passport or driving licence), and
  • Proof of address (e.g., recent utility bill or bank statement).

Our reception team will confirm your identity and provide your login details for our online system.

If you don’t have these documents, you will need to speak to a receptionist about verification of ID.

Keeping Your Information Safe

Your online information is protected by NHS security standards.

To keep your account safe:

  • Never share your login details with anyone.
  • Log out after each use.
  • Tell us immediately if you think someone else may have accessed your account.

Things to Remember

⚠️ Online services are not monitored 24 hours a day.
Do not use online messaging or appointment requests for urgent or emergency problems.

If you need urgent medical help:

  • Call 999 for life-threatening emergencies
  • Call NHS 111 for urgent but non-life-threatening issues
  • Call the surgery during opening hours for same-day appointments

If You Can’t Use Online Services

We understand not everyone can or wants to use digital services.
You can still:

  • Call the surgery for appointments or repeat prescriptions
  • Visit in person
  • Ask a trusted family member or carer to help (with your consent)

Our team is happy to help set up your account or show you how to use it.

Privacy and Your Medical Record

When you use online services, you can view certain parts of your medical record, such as:

  • Allergies and immunisations
  • Test results
  • Consultation notes (for new records from November 2023 onwards)

If you’d prefer limited access (for example, prescriptions only), just let us know.
If there is any reason your access needs to be restricted for safety, your GP will discuss this with you.
